DJ controllers connect you with DEX 3 and your media in a way a keyboard and mouse simply can’t. The benefits are vast — and having one device for mixing music or music videos that includes all the pre-mapped tools and features you need to perform creative on-the-fly mix sets with DEX 3, including a built in audio interface for pre-fade listening, is something every Digital DJ will ultimately need to provide their fans and audience with the best possible party experience.

The Pioneer DDJ-RB and DDJ-RR are just the latest of over 85 DJ controllers that DEX 3 works with — but both units are marvelous choices at vastly different price-points for different types of DJs.

The 2-deck DDJ-RB has a similar design to the already supported DDJ-SB, and is listed at only $249 USD on most online DJ equipment retail websites. While inexpensive and deigned for the beginner DJ, it doesn’t skimp on features for a portable controller. You have all the controls required for basic mixing making it a nice fit for mobile and bedroom DJs.

Pioneer’s DDJ-RR is also a 2-channel controller (it does include deck toggle to control decks 3 and 4) — but is clearly a size-able step up from the DDJ-RB. Coming in at $699 USD it’s not priced as much as the flagship Pioneer controllers, but you get a highly-capable 2-deck control surface with a robust feature-set surely to entice more advanced DEX 3 users that do not require advanced 4-deck mixing support.

Download the Map files below (Note: DEX 3.8 will come equipped with the map files for both controllers – no need to install if you’re running DEX 3.8) and get into the mix with DEX 3 and Pioneer DJ.

The DDJ-RR is the little brother of Pioneer’s professional controllers, the DDJ-RZ and DDJ-RX. It has a compact design and intuitive layout with large jog wheels, illuminated on-jog indicators and tactile Performance Pads. This 2-channel controller comes with dedicated controls, such as Slip Mode, Release FX, Sequence Load, and Deck Select so you can switch between all dj decks by the touch of a button.

On-jog Display
Large jog wheels with an illuminated On-Jog Display provide responsive scratching, and let you know the status of each deck at a glance. Plus the DDJ-RR has a durable, brushed aluminum top plate just like Pioneer DJs flagship controllers and NXS2 set-up.

Performance Pads
Set colors for your Hot Cues then trigger with high quality rubber pads. Or use the Performance Pads to bring Pad FX, Beat Jump into the mix.

Dedicated Controls
Slip Mode silently continues playback during a loop, reverse, or scratch, then brings the music back at the right point. And using Release FX you can exit complex FX patterns by selecting vinyl brake, echo or back spin and twisting the dial.

High Quality Audio
The DDJ-RR features the same circuit for master and booth outputs as the pro-standard DDJ-RZ to ensure faithful reproduction of audio sources and clear, powerful sound.

Portable Design
Take this controller with you wherever you go thanks to the easy grab handles and lightweight design. For simple plug-and-play connectivity you can choose between USB or AC power.

Flexible Connectivity
Balanced XLR outputs let you connect to a professional PA system, while a booth and 2 headphone outs allow you to monitor your mixes. Or use the DDJ-RR as a mixer with multiplayers or turntables using the line and phono inputs.

PC Master Out
Connect a computer via the PC Master Out to play back your music through its internal speakers or a connected desktop speaker. You can use the controller for your headphones at the same time.

Needle Search
Needle search provides a touch strip for intuitive and fast searches. Jump to any part of a track with one touch.
